There are two types of status checks: system status checks and instance status checks. Both status checks are used to monitor your instance Instances. Your EC2 instance performs automated checks on every running Amazon EC2 instance to identify hardware and software issues. Status checks are performed every five minutes and each returns a pass or a fail status. If both system status and instance status checks pass, your instance is working. If either one of the status check fail, your instance is impaired.
